🥰 I'm Valerie, a Canadian children's book illustrator and author. I still have space in my schedule for 2026-2027 projects (picture book, editorial, middle grade and products). My full portfolio can be found in my bio

I sent 50 cold emails to strangers before I got my first illustration client. Zero results. 💀

Then I sent ONE casual message to an acquaintance I'd worked with before. Four projects later, here we are.

The big difference? TRUST. They already knew

I made every portfolio mistake in the book. 😅

For years, my portfolio had 60+ pieces. Every style I'd ever tried. Work from my early days that didn't represent me anymore. Projects I wasn't even proud of.
